SURRENDER SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

After foster space

the second biggest barriers to accepting new animals into our care are outstanding medical bills and the cost of spay/neuter surgeries and veterinary care. We can only continue to responsibly accept new animals into our care thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors.

The Surrender Sponsorship Program exists to help our small volunteer-run, donation based rescue responsibly accept a limited number of stray and re-homed rabbits and guinea pigs each month, while continuing to provide excellent care for the 40 – 50 in our foster homes at any given time.

Even with a rescue discount, neuters costs us $150 – $400 and spays cost us $250 – 500 depending on whether a specialist is needed. Animals who come in as strays, seniors, or sanctuary cases due to age or a chronic illness often cost $1,000 or more in veterinary care within the first month and up to $5000 over their lifetimes.

Email us at “intakes@pennyandwild.org” if you would like to be added to our Spay / Neuter Sponsor email list to be notified when there is a rabbit or guinea pig that needs a sponsor for spay / neuter surgeries and/or veterinary care.
